SHRM Is Here!

This week Roger is off to the SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) Conference. He couldn’t be happier to be able to see and speak with HR professionals face to face again at this year’s conference. He discusses staffing pain points HR professionals are facing, and how we have the solutions that can ease those pains. Onboarding, recruiting, benefits enrollment, reviews and compensation are all parts of our HR module in our HCM (Human Capital Management) system. Listen in to hear more.

Learn more about HCM at the SHRM conference

This podcast was recorded at Connect & Simplify™ HQ in Wisconsin. We help hundreds of businesses (nationwide) with their HR needs. For many businesses in the 50-250 employee range, Connect & Simplify™ is a profitable or more effective alternative to full-time employees dedicating all or some of their time to human capital management.

2021 SHRM conference for HR personnel

Thank God for this conference. Yeah, I said it. I'm ready to roll out to the 2021 Wisconsin SHRM conference this week and get face to face with some of the best HR personnel you're ever going to meet from across Wisconsin.

Roger here, in charge of digital marketing, the human capital management consultant and host of this episode of Inside Connect & Simplify™ with The Benefit Companies. And yes, I said it. I'm looking forward to going to a conference this week. SHRM the initials, S.H.R.M, stands for the Society for Human Resource Management, and it's holding its annual conference this week. I will be attending along with a couple of teammates as an exhibitor for our human capital management platform, Connect & Simplify™.

Solving human resource professional issues

I attended Chairman 2019 and had more conversations than I could count with human resource professionals about what kind of pain they were looking to solve. I assume I would have done the same in 2020, but well, you know what happened. So when it was announced that in 2021, SHRM was going to be back with a hybrid model, or revamped approach to presentations, a shift of how exhibitors would be able to chat with attendees, and a virtual component, we were happy to jump back in and take part.

COVID regulations taking place at HCM conference

Look, bringing hundreds of professionals to a conference and having a chance to talk with them in person, where this last year has been zoom calls phone tag, email only. It's way more favorable, in my opinion. I've always been way better in person than I have been on the phone. I think I excel at reading the person in person, rather than on a call.

So as you can guess, the committee has taken extraordinary steps to keep attendees safe. A huge undertaking in this current climate. They've taken heed of all the protocols to reduce the number of attendees. Exhibitors modified the schedule to keep people spread out, change the flow of foot traffic, reduce the number of gathering spots, all things that should improve safety. This also includes the virtual element that allows people to attend from their home, office, or home office.

Importance of human resource conference: Answers, ideas & info

So why is it important to have this conference at all, much less in person? Of all the aspects of running a business, I would argue that human resources has had to deal with the most this last two years. Just staying current on mandates and regulations has been a headache.

This conference at its core is a resource for HR professionals to get answers, ideas, and information to do their job well and take care of their company's employees. HR gets so wrapped up in taking care of the day-to-day, they may not have time to keep current with new ideas, information, or technology.

Staffing is a big concern for HR professionals

So when I asked human resource professionals what they are facing, there's typically a theme, especially this year, staffing. Everyone is looking for team members, and the market is crazy hot, kind of like the real estate market in past months. Here's where we can help.

The HR modules of our human capital management platform are designed to meet all the needs of a human resources department. We start with a recruiting module that tracks the candidate from the time they apply for a position until they retire 30 years later. Our onboarding module allows the human resource department to move all the onboarding paperwork into an electronic format, including signing off on the handbook, training videos, I-9s, W-2s, etc., and it keeps them engaged before they arrive for day one.

Eliminate paperwork for payroll, benefits, time management and more

Speaking of eliminating paper, the benefits enrollment module shows the new employee their options, their coverage selections, costs, and once complete, links to the carrier. Another pile of paper eliminated.

For your managers that love writing reviews, the performance module again removes paper from the process, keeping track of all the details and keeping them on task with reminders and calendar updates.

Finally, the compensation module allows you to put aside your calculator as it automates the comp span across business units and cost centers. Do you still have to interview those potential candidates and make a selection, of course, but all the paperwork just disappeared with our human capital management platform. In its place is a built-in real-time audit trail with reporting functionality built for your management team to use in decision-making processes.

A process that meets your company needs and goals

As I've mentioned in the past, we built this process to meet your needs and goals. We are a design company, not a software company. Software companies build a program to meet the mass appeal. We design your solution to meet your needs and rules. We test it to make sure the results and reporting functions meet your needs. We implement and train you along the way and standby with dedicated service teams after the go-live date.

So why I'm excited for me and the team to go to the SHRM conference this week? We know that everyone we meet will have some version of staffing as an issue. That gives us something to talk about. We also know that our platform, backed by the industry tech leader Kronos, is the most nimble, user-friendly, integrated platform available, and we can help.

Tell us your HR pains: Our HCM platform can help

So if you're attending the conference on October 13, and 14th in the Wisconsin Dells, stop by booth 206. Ask us for info. Tell us your pain. It's probably staffing, but who knows. We also cover payroll, time laborretirement plans and employee benefit plans, all of which are part of the human capital management platform. Then ask what we can do to help relieve that pain.

It's been two years since we've seen most of you. Let's reconnect and see how we can help. Call 262-207-1999 and ask for an HCM consultant. We can't wait to hear from you. Thanks for listening to this episode of Inside Connect & Simplify™. Be well.
